We are delighted to introduce you to some of the Growers participating in the Green Cities Europe Campaign in Ireland!
Meet Joseph Young! 👋
Joseph is assistant production manager and manager of quality control at Young Nurseries, in the Ballyhoura region of Co. Limerick. The nursery is a family business founded in 1988.
💬 “We are very environmentally friendly – we have a system of watering the plants from underneath. The water is collected back in rainwater harvesting tanks. We collect all the rainwater from the roofs and mix in fertilizer, so that the quality of the plants is up to the highest standards
🐝 We also use integrated pest management. We use a lot of insects and bugs to eat other bugs, and use very little chemicals. We are a supporter of the pollinator plan for Ireland and we encourage lots of insects into the nursery.” – Joseph Young
Young Nurseries supplies to garden centers, co-ops, county councils, hotels and landscapers. They have previously worked with Waterford county council, Cork county council, Limerick county council, and Dublin County Council.
Young Nurseries is Bord Bia Quality Assured. 🌱
The Green Cities Europe campaign is being run by Bord Bia – The Irish Food Board in Ireland on behalf of the IHNSA. This campaign is supported by funding from the European Union 🇪🇺
